Let me tell you how and why I choose Nikon D5100.
I was disappointed with my Sony hx-1 photo quality, the grains in the photo was unavoidable in all situations. Also the DOF was quite OK. I used Sony hx-1 more than a year.
When I was feeling to move to DSLR but all time i had a same thought "which one". Again its not a easy job as we are investing so much of money and buying any entry level DSLR is not at all right. That has to be right one.

I ended with selecting 2 major manufactures as I don't want to take any chance with other companies. you know these C

Nikkor 1.8G 50mm Lens

Its a Great lens to have with your kit lens. its a small and super fast focus.
Its a FX lens and I use it on APC-S sensor. Its 50mm on full frame and around 75mm on DX sensor.
This Lens is Auto focus lens on DX camera as it as focus motor. The earlier version of this lens f/1.8D 50 mm was able to auto focus only on camera which have inbuilt focus motor.

I was recently privileged to travel to Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India and it is a delight to see such fine photography of the many beautiful birds I saw there. I was there for my wedding: my husband is from Aurangabad. We are now back in the US where I am from, but I am greatly looking forward to traveling to India again as soon as possible.
